Block That Flu!

Block That Flu!

Worth Repeating. I’ve been getting emails from parents concerned about caring for their child so I’m updating and re-posting this comprehensive guide to caring for your sick child, and what you need to know.

The Swine Flu, H1N1, is in full effect, and it’s likely to last a long time.

As we all, know children are taking a large brunt of the epidemic.

The latest CDC data  shows:

  • 53 percent of people hospitalized so far with swine flu symptoms have been under 25.
  • People over 65 are faring better. That group represents only 12 percent of hospitalizations.
  • 114  deaths have been reported so far from Aug. 30 to October 30. That’s more than number of pediatric deaths every year from the seasonal flu.

What Should You Do If You Think Your Child Has it? What Symptoms Should You Look For? How Can It Be Treated?

  1. Dad says:

    Hey!

I’m very concerned that one of my kids has asthma and seems to be in the “high risk” category for Swine Flu. Anyone out there have children with asthma? What precautions are you taking to reduce your kid’s risk?

Does anyone have information on WHEN the Swine Flu vaccine will be available?

I’d like to establish an ongoing conversation with other parents to keep us all in the know!

    Thanks

    Dad
